These little disks do what they are advertised to. if your espresso machine doesn't force the water uniformly through the portafilter then these are worth the experiment. just compress the coffee as you usually do, then insert this on top before putting the portafilter in place. tip: the disk is much easier to remove after brewing if you let it cool for a minute or two first. the disk will shrink as it cools and will just pop off. otherwise it will be tightly bonded to the puck (and very hot).
