Yes, this is mentioned in the description, but I already bought a similar gadget from another seller and couldn't imagine that someone else would sell it without a battery and not include this information on the promotional slides. In short, if you don't want to deal with figuring out which batteries you need to buy, buy it somewhere else. I can't even check if this thing works or not yet. Also, the packaging arrived crumpled. Not a purchase, but just a disappointment.

The thermometer is slightly broken; although it says that the maximum temperature is 300 degrees Celsius, when I was cooking and needed to reach 110 degrees, it only got to 99.8 degrees and then started dropping, even though the thermometer was kept in the same position.
